The Black Repertory

Today i had the pleasure of visiting the Black Repertory in Providence.  Since i live with Thierno, I've heard of this place from time to time, but never had the oppertunity to actually visit.  Jazz and Thierno decided to go tonight because there was a party being thrown there hosted by the Rhode Island College.
Truth be told, my experience to going to the Black Rep had a few parallels with my visit to Noah's house during Thanksgiving.  When i first arrived to the Black Rep, I didn't even know Rhode Island had that many black people.  Much like when i went to Noah's house during the holidays, I felt a little out of place.  I came to realize the only difference between the two places, is that Noah's house I came to feel comfortable because everyone was so hospitable to me, and at the Black Rep, they had alcohol.
In addition to all that, Jazz and myself cut the rug up like it was our job.  While running the risk of sounding pompous, the kids at Rhode Island College really didn't know how to get a party started.  But once me, Thierno, and Jazz showed up, the party really got buzzing.  Basically what happened was, Jazz challenged the whole club to a dance battle.  And I just got sucked into the madness.  At the end of the night Jazz and I joked about how "we are the shit."  We all had a good laugh.

Valentine's day!

Every Valentines day since i came to college, i always enjoy making little home made treats and giving them out to all my friends.  That way, when I give it to that secret crush, it doesn't seem so obvious.  So me and my friends end up making a good amount of chocolate treats around this time of the year.  Before, i made strawberry jam truffles, and after that i made chocolate covered butter cookies.  Delicious.
This year being no exception, I'm going to attempt to make some chocolate cakes, put em in pretty little boxes and giving them to all my lady friends.  Noah was here a few hours ago and made chocolate covered strawberries.  Some lucky lady, huh?
However, I'll post how those candies go.

Who wants to be my valentines this year?

dating auction

hahaha, for the first time, i entered the dating auction.  I wanted to do that before i graduated.  Seemed to me that this would be the last chance to give that a try.  it was fun,  i ran for 26 dollars, cold hard cash baby!  I was pretty nervous about going, but once they started playing my theme song, i just went out and went crazy.  Over all, i must say it was pretty fun, I'm glad i did it.  For everyone who bid on me, thanks!

edit
oh yeah, and it was for a good cause, all the proceeds went to katrina relief, so i didn't whore myself out for a bad reason...

She's beautiful isn't she?

It's been way too long since I've posted here.  But that is all about to change.  I've finally got a computer of my own.  To start off this entry i would like to brag about the new device i have acquired.  The laptop I am currently using to post this very entry is an Alienware area-51 m5700.  This gadget is quite amazing.  It looks beautiful.  My favorite thing about how it looks is how the eyes on the alienface on the cover glows when the machine is put to use.

On other news, wintersession has started, and we are currently on week 3.  the japanese woodblock printing class I'm taking is quite time consuming.  But I'm glad I'll be able to make blocks and send my work to my friends.  Though the cramp in my hand that i have is a bit of discomfort.  I have a little more time on my hands because it's wintersession, so today i practiced dancing.  Promises of muscle pain scream my name.

These are some character designs i did a few weeks back. I was pretty proud of the photoshop knowledge i've been acquiring, so my oversized ego has compelled me to go out of my way to update my xanga site. It's been quite a while since i updated, and my avid readers must be lonesome without my outbursts of the artschool life. First of all, i would like to say happy birthday to my sister. in about four hours, it'll be her 24th birthday.
I've been enjoying my "character creation" class. It's a class that concentrates on designing characters, but in the process I've learned so much about symbolism, and how to assign those symbolisms, not only on a character, but also in a narrative, and a composition of a painting. amazing experience, I think my teacher right now is one of the best teachers in our school.
It's my own birthday in a week, I'm not sure what I'm going to do... we'll see... I'll write more soon, i promise. Tell me what you all think about my drawings!
